    removing the brakes from TRX???

well I cant get the drum off my trx90, its aluminum and I dont want to pound on it, but its all apart? The axel is still on though.

Im trying to replace the bearing carrier, its cracked. I was getting some other work done at a machine shop and showed it to them, they put it in the vise to try to break it free, nothing...I dont have the book either.

So whats holding this thing on? Brakes operate fine in the rear, they spin free (its all apart so Im using vise grips on the spline). The nuts/bolts are all off so is it just jammed pretty good onto that axel then, is that the design intent?

i would say the brakes are holding the hub on, or the hub is rusted to the axle. that hub should just slide off after you removed the axle nuts.

well it cant be rusted, its aluminum, and I can look thru the bolt holes and see that the brakes are not rubbing, it turns free. The brakes worked good before I took it off, Im using visegrips to actuate the brakes, but only if I want them on as they are off rgiht now so they cant be holding it on.

there can be rust on the axle, thats steel. you can try hitting the axle out. put a nut on the threads, as to not mess them up, and support the bearing carrier in a vise, and try hiting the axle out. that may loosen up the hub enough so the axle may slide out.

had an ATV shop pull the axel, it was expensive, but I did the rest myself and got new parts on ebay, the swinger/axel carrier were actually pretty torn up with crackes and someone had drilled the nuts out...? Heres the process, I didnt get any pics of it apart but the brake drum is on splines and it was just stuck on there
