how much machining is required to the top of the piston? also could i use a 125 jug on my 110 motor? my motor is fairly new on the inside now. i wonder why they dont have a big bore kit for these and they do for 90s? the 110 seems more common?

The 125 cylinder wont bolt on without machining. I dont know alot on 110/125 but do know that the 90 will take the 110 cylinder but it has to be machined shorter and sometimes slight amout of case work for the cylinder to go in. (a file or dremel would handle that) I would figure 110/125 is the same cuz of the stroke is longer.

I wish I knew more on the years of the trx125 with flat 110 style motor. I was watching ebay and asking sellers question for a while trying to get it narrowed down but that was taking for ever. I was also asking on the spds and reverse. I do believe the '84 and '85 are for sure possible others. I know the '87 are the upright engine but dont know on '86. My bro had trx without a engine and dont know the year and I put a 110 motor in it, bolted right up. It did have a reverse light so know it had reverse originally.

I get first dibs on the ebay ones though. j/k I have been watching for them forever and found nothing on just a complete engine.

rugabug, Your frame is definitely a Pauter Machine frame. As far as the eingine, if you can find all the components, you can build a square engine for the 110. You would have to find a stroker crank and a piston that are both 61mm. The real trick is, you have to carefully heat the connecting rod of a 110 and gently and forcefully squish it some 2mm, not for the faint of heart. Unless you can find all the components that are already done. Then the next biggest obstacle is having your cylinder resleeved to accept the piston. The next biggest job after that is to address the oiling, cause sometimes oil can become starved to the topend of the bigger engine. You also need to find out what cam you are using and wether or not you will have to modify the piston to use in the cylinder, as truly big pistons are not always compatable with the honda 110 head, and may have to be modified, lightened and balanced. Having dealt with all those issues, then you have to possibly relieve excess crankcase pressure from all this new and higher rotating masses inside the engine cases. You also have to decide if you want to keep the stock clutchless shifting or go for a manual shift. You also need to decide if you want to have the hi\low gearbox setup or you want just a regular single ratio setup. The clutch and the elimination of the hi\low gearbox assembly can be done using stock honda components, but, will have to be really searched for. If you do not want all the hassle, just stick to the 124 piston, and a nice little cam. See if you can find an aftermarket intake, not made for many years by the way, match port it to your intake and use about a 24mm carb and jet properly. You can use a 26mm or larger, but it will lose alot of low end and isn't very good for average putting around. 24mm is about the best all around. You have yourself a really nice start to a fun machine. The square engine will give you around 180ccs' or so. And the components are very, very hard to find or make. Good luck either way you go. And listen to greenhuman, he rocks when it comes to modifying. He builds my dream engine, the modified 200x.
