This may be a strange question, but does anyone know if certain states allow 3 or 4 wheelers to be street legal? This is assuming they would have all the proper lighting of course.
I'm curious,

In AZ it is possible I have been told. They pretty much license anything over there!
Someone said it's possible in Georgia, but as usual, they didn't say anything about how you do it. I'm interested because I'm here in Savannah now.

When I lived in Montana they were legal (not on the Interstate or freeways of course). Just had to have it licensed, brake light, headlight, and horn. Lots of people goin around with snow plows.

i know in alot of small towns you can register them as farm vehicles . i had a buddy that drove his fourtrax everywhere . he just used hand signals. this was in s.e. missouri and northern arkansas.
The main hurdle to jump is that most states require the rear drive system to be a differential and not a solid axle setup. That makes it kind of tricky.
Here in Nampa, Idaho we have several people who drive golf carts just by putting slow vehicle signs on them. I should look into what the rules are for them.
Thanks for all the replies guys,
I think it would be so cool to ride around town, don't you think? I saw a picture of that custom Team Yamaha Blue Tri -Z 250. I guess it was from Europe? Anyway, I started looking closer at the picture and this guy had street tires and turn signals etc. It kinda got me thinking...
It would be neat to cruise around on a 350X or 700 Raptor. There's a lot of people here in Mississippi already riding on the street, just not in town and not legally.
I would think it would be hard to get insurance.
What do you think?

yea theres a guy here in south ga, that has been riding a four wheeler for years now, hes hanicap and thats the easiest way for him to get around, It has a windsheld, and turn signals added and as far as I know its liscensed as a motorcycle, He has always used honda trx's 2wd models for this, oh and he has street tires on it as well
my brother and i bought a suzuki katana motorcycle a while
back and one night his 4-wheeler was sitting along side of it
with the motor out of it and i look down and made the
joke that the cycle motor would fit....
the rest is history
now he's trying to make it street legal and we just found out how
take the swing arm off the wheeler and put the cycle swing arm
on the back of the wheeler
d.o.t approved tires
licence it as a motorcycle with a sidecar
walla a really fast 3-wheeler in reverse![]()
