it will run it but it wont be very bright. you will have to get your lighting coil re-wound so it can produce the power that light needs to run right.

What I mean is the different style halogen bulb, the one thats looks like a car bulb. I just bought 2 bulbs for my 250. The stock halogen, and the other style. Same wattage, but the smaller car style bulb is brighter on my 250 IMO.

mine was only a 40/45, i change it to a halogen blue bulb 55/60 and that was a few years back. haven't had a problem yet. And it's ten times brighter

did you have to change the harness at the bulb? what i mean is when you put the new bulb in, did you change the harness for the 3 prong bulbs?

yup..i cut the 3 prong plug off a citation 3500 ski doo harness and cut the end off the head light socket and wired it up.
