    Angry Recoil Trouble

    Hey,

I've been working on my 82' ytm175 for a few days now, combining two bikes to make one runner. I'm having wicked problems with the recoil- had it torn apart and put back together. It works, but not when all the bolts are snug. I have to back them off to get the chord to suck back in. I figure the plate is too tight against the starter. No big deal, just kind of sucks having a semi-loose recoil vibrating all the time.

Anyway, the bike is almost there. Found a complete parts bike and managed to track down an airbox lid and grab bar/taillight. Still waiting on a new choke cable- I've had it running once, but I'm tired of cupping the carb to get it going. Plugs are fowling quick too- I'm running a 40:1 mix, any thoughts- maybe too rich?

    Thanks

you probably got some washers on the wrong side of a clip or something.

Ive had this happen on one of my trikes before, it was because it was missing the gasket between the starter and the engine. If you dont have gasket, then i would just use 1 or 2 washers in between the engine and starter.

Get some gasket material from an auto parts store and make yourself a gasket if that's what it needs...

Of course! That makes perfect sense- I appologize it's been awhile (4 years) since I've owned a toy. Thanks for the help.
