Tri-z 250 hub swap help

Hey all, I want to put hubs on my Tri-Z 250 that also fit the bolt pattern on my 250R and 350X. So the question is:

Can I use 250R or 350X hubs on my tri-z?

G-Force and Durablue both offer aftermarket replacement hubs for your application for around $75. Stock 83-84 250R, 200X, 250X, 300EX, 400EX hubs will also work with some minor mods.

1. What are "slight modifications" on using Honda hubs?
2. The list of interchangable parts is awesome. However, do the listed hubs have the same bolt pattern as used on a 250X, 200X and/or 350X?

Bottom line: I want to swap tires and wheels out between my Tri-Z and Honda trikes.

Here's the scoop on the Honda hubs as I know it...

They share the same spline count as the Yamaha hubs you have now (with the exception of 85-up 250R and 85-86 350X) however the diameters of the axles are slightly different. If you have a slightly worn axle or pick up a set of worn hubs you'll be in decent shape to make the swap. If your axle is great and you get great shape hubs they won't just slide on.

I had the second scenario on my Z. At first I heated and beat the hubs on, but that just didn't work out too well so I ended up taking a die grinder and shaving a little off the inside diameter of the hubs. That allowed them to slide on and off without much trouble.

The plus side to using a set of 300EX or 400EX hubs though is that you will gain about 1 1/2" of width on each side. But it seems that most of those hubs will sell for around $40 on ebay, and with the Billet G-Force hubs being only $75 it's kind of hard to justify the extra work.
