    Getting a new job!!

Well guys I went Tuesday to a job interview for Pride offshore. The lady told me it would take two weeks and then they would call and let me know. They called me today and said that they want me in Houma, LA this Sunday, to do the physical and wizz quiz on Monday and Tuesday so they can hire me. Starting pay is $15.31 an hour with an eighty four hour workweek. My and my brother went together, they havent called him. I am pretty sure it was the prior military that got me the job. I can see a major Z rebuild in the future. After I get a house ofcourse. Wish me luck guys.

    Barry

P.S. Any of you louisiana guys know a good strip joint around Houma let me know.

Now that's funny. I work unreal hours at times(30-40 hours straight). I think most lazy and stupid people would like to make anything over 40 hours per week illegal.

I had a buddy who worked the rigs in the golf. Great job if you're young and no family yet. Don't forget to bring your pole. He's got some great pics of the fish he caught.

I worked offshore for a very short period to install some new instrumentation. The money was great. I think it was somewhere around $36 w/ an 84 hour work week ( this was a few years ago before the boom) I just realized real quick that it wasnt for me.

I got the job and am leaving out this coming Tueday for my first hitch. Just got back from a 7day training rig in Morgan City, LA. Water survival traing was a blast, gotta get me one of them survival rafts for the creek this summer. Going to be on the largest spar rig in the world, drilling in water 6000'+ water depth alone. Glad to get the job, the money is much needed.

Damn! For a minute there I figgered it was all at once. Not bad money you will be making but when are you going to find the time to work on the trike? You will be all to even think about more work.

I will have fourteen days off, I think I can get a little done in fourteen days. The rig I am going to is completely automated, which means very little labor for me to actually do. Really I am only going to work 6months out of the year, the other six are off.

Man, why didnt you msg me and say you were in Houma???? Aww dude, I dunno what you paid for your hotel stay but I could have done it for 29.00 a nite! Im an AGM at one of the hotels here. AND you could have come hung out with me and the family and ride trikes or something....Let me know when your coming into town at the very least we could get together for lunch or something. If your coming into town on a weekend let me know and I can get you a room..Mon thru Thurs we are usually sold out.

Good luck offshore, its going to bed cold as a witches....well you know. No solid floors out there unless your in the bunkhouse, so the wind comes howling in from every direction. And dont think there isnt alot of work out there, lots of chipping and painting, fire watch, cleaning and scrubbing.I hope you stick it out!! Dave

Oh Yeh I almost forgot, If your not sure ,ASk questions..they would rather you do that than mess something up. No matter how tired you may get, try to stay alert, be aware of everything that is going on around you...its not as bad as it used to be, but one mistake can cost you or someone else their life!!! Oh yeh, when I started out offshore in the late 80s, I was making top pay for a helper/rigger...4.50 an hr!

That wouldnt even get me out of bed in the morning, starting pay out here now is $15+. The rig I am on roustabouts start out at $16.85 an hour. with an 84 hour week that is pretty good pay. The offshore industry is the only thing keeping my hometown afloat. I will take you up on the invite, I am going to be here for atleast another 6 hours sitting here watching the The History Channel and national Geo. You wouldnt happen to know anyone around here selling trikes would you? I am always in the market for trikes.
