Why no more trikes??

Hello guys, I know trikes were banned back in the day and they had to stop making them but why cant/dont they start making them again? is there still a law or somthing that prohibits Kawasaki and honda ect... from making any more trikes? Its obvious people love them and still ride them...i would buy a brand new trike over a brand new anything else any day lol but this question has haunted me a while so i figured i'd ask.

Really? i was told they were banned and made illegal to ride until 1997....at least here in the U.S. Either way why did they stop making them?

because evil people called the cpsc (consumer product safety commision or something like that) had to decide what was good for everybody, and take away our fun. no need for the big 4 to start making them again, not as long as they have the market they have for them quads, and the evil cpsc would go ahead and pass a law to stop the production of them if they tryed anyways.

not illegal to ride, just cant by any new ones from a dealer. perfectly legal to ride, always have always will.

Trikes should be the same as everything else...slap a warning sticker on it and let the rider use it at his own risk. Anything else is the work of comunists.

You can also give a lot of credit to People without any common sence. Had people taken the time to learn how, or show their kids how to properly ride these machines, then there wouldn't have been so many injuries or deaths. Then when injuries or deaths accured these same ignorant people sued the manufactures claiming faulty equipment / design. Lots of law suits got the CPSC involved and they rushed to get the machines off the market.

The only way we will ever have any chance of Trikes being made again is if you can get Vice President Cheney to take all the lawyers quail hunting ( Was national news about a year ago ). And you need to get rid of all the sue happy people. Until then there isn't a snowballs chance in ***** we will see new quality ones on the market.

A little FYI, Honda just about went broke from all the lawsuits back in the mid to late 80's. Some one told me a long time ago Honda paid out Multi Billions of dollars to settle a crap load of lawsuits. In fact they are still being sued today. Now I will say that not all lawsuits are unwarrented, but I bet well over 50% are just someone trying to get rich because they can't use common sence in operating a vehicle.

its like the 2stroke thing soon there will be none to buy at the dealers but only the ones who have them are ther lucky ones. look at it like this hang on to your trikes ride them anytime you feel like it and nobody can do anything about it, i said this before and i will say it again long live three wheelers the fun is just in the hands of those who have them. atc heads rule''

I agree I owuld buy a "new" one right now, but, how many people beside us would actually go buy one? the market would be very lucrative for any manufacturer to build a product that only apeals to a select few right now
Now on the other hand, it could be a cheaper version of many new four wheelers, make it a possible option, I/e YZF 450r trike or quad, 1500 dollars difference, now that would be cool, or even if it was more I would be interested.
We'll probabaly see the day were we can get a performance oreinted or utility based three wheeler ever again, but as long as wee keep ours running strong notbody will forget them. Just as a side note, when we went to ocala this past weekend, all the younger kids would stop me and ask about my machine, since either they never saw a three wheeler before, or never saw a performance three wheeler, one kid wanted ot trade his BRAND NEW 06 250ex for my trike, and he was for real about it, I said nothing can replace my trike, no dice kid.

me too i would buy a brand new trike any day over a quad just because its my thing. i have both and i ride my trike more then my quadracer. they are fun on the trails can you say old school?

People talk a lot of s***. Alomost everyone i talk to about 3 wheelers heard from someone else that it is illegal to ride a trike. bs. If it was illegal, they better give me a brand new 4 wheeler if the government took my trike.

I just got my 84 200x home man I remember why I liked these things so much more than a quad, quicker, lighter and way more nimble.
