Dickson's water cooled racing Yamaha

Do anybody got some info on these three-wheeler. It seems like a bike conversion, but??? I know this bike is not a ytm-200 'cause of the year. This bike seems very cool to me.

well the tank is off a YZ125/250 and if its water cooled the 1st YZ's that were water cooled were 1982's.....so i am guessing its just a YZ125 or a YZ250 with custom tripples, and fenders. the 1982 YZ's ran the radiator on the tripples just as the tecate 3's did until 1986.

anyway i think the mag cover says JULY 1982.....so this would make perfect sence

The gas tanks really seems to be a 125 unit, but what about the engine. The key of the problem seem to be the exhaust.

They talk about that trike in coeshow's or old fart's sticky thread on the top of this forum. I know becauseI beleive I asked. just don't remember the details... might be a good idea to check those...

Heres a pic of a yamaha that was on ebay a while ago. He claimed it was stock, YTM175, and I didn't want to argue. Looks similar, but by no means exactly.

First year for a YZ 125 water pumper was 1981. I had one. It was a YZ125 J. The picture in the thread is correct. It had the radiator up on the triples just like a '85 tecate. They ran the plumbing through the steering stem. It leaked like a B**ch! In '82 it still had the radiator on the triples but rerouted the hoses. It ran fast. No power valve but on the top end there wasn't another 125 that would run with it. Several magazine said that it was the fastest 125 yamaha had made ( magazine was in 1990) .

Dickson used the 125-J motor in a custom 3B frame, His dad's company made. '81 YZ 125 tank, '82 YZ 125 number plate, front and rear plastic, rear axle, and other parts were Tri-moto parts. Triples were .75" thick aluminum and YZ 80 front forks. Exhaust was a standard YZ 125 pipe.

That's a 3B YZ 250. Different bike.

On the pics i found for the 81 yz125, the exhaust is at the right, and on the ytm conversion, it is on the left side, how do you explain this?

?????? On the '81 YZ 125, when your sitting on the bike, the exhaust is on the right side. On Dickson's conversion, when your sitting on the bike, it's on the right side. On the 250 conversion, AIR COOLED MOTOR IN THE PICS, thats on the left side when your sitting on the bike.

Yes. One's an air cooled YZ 250 and the other is a water cooled 125.

For pics.. I'll need to get over to my mom's house and dig through her old photo's of us as kids. I was 13 when I got my YZ in August of '81, so its been a while.
