What's it worth? Should I get it?

Guy sent me an email asking if I wanted to buy his quad. Here's a pic, it's a 2000 and here's what he wrote:

i have a 2000 trailblazer 250cc 4 wheeler.. i bought it for 850.00 ... the guy i got it from, ran it low on oil .. so when his buddy told him the rings were shot, he we out and got a new set of rings and he tried to clean the walls . Yes i put the same old piston back in the motor, and that is why we are all over here laughing... it is dirty right now but it does clean up well..i have a pic of it if your interested. Some repairs are not for your do-it-yourselfer...lol the parts to fix it are less than 300.00

Let me know what you guys think. If I shouldn't waste my money, let me know.

I stopped buying Z's and R's today. Bought 1 on the way to Dales, and almost bought one from him. I don't see too many on ebay, can't get a read on how much I could turn it for either whole or parts. That's all I need right now is to get stuck with it.

Anyone need any milk crates!!!! They're red... they'll match your R's

That was the first thing I saw after the quad. I thought damn I could use a few of those for the back of my truck.

Not sure. He said he paid $800. I think he's waiting for me to give an offer and I know nothing about Polaris (other then sleds) I'm trying to find out if A) any good? B) What should I offer?
Anyone that can help, I'd appreciate it. If I should just let it go, tell me.

try to low ball it and see where it goes from there (offer him 500$) but i wouldnt pay 800$ for a machine that doesnt run. i have also read alot of bad things about polaris and how bad their quads are (unreliable)

Anybody else agree to offer $500? Talked to him a little last night, he had another call come in so price wasn't discussed yet. Will be talking with him Monday.

    I second the $500.

Sounds like a hassle to get anthing out of that bike. He stated that the parts to fix it are $300, but the repairs are "not for your do-it yourselfer." If thats true, think about labor as well.

$300 in his book, I'm sure someone around here or ebay would have the parts cheaper. Sounds like a bore might be in the works which wouldn't cost much but the parts. I'll shoot him an email tonight and give him some crap story about not worth it, even peeple on ebay don't even sell them. I only found 5 on ebay tonight. We'll see what he says to $400 first

Update, offered $400, said no, then $500, said no. Said he's going to fix for the wife cause she thinks it's "cool". Oh well, ended picking up a Kaw KLT 200... and again, know nothing about those either $150 and complete. Has the "duck" plastic on it... they way they bought it from the dealer for hunting, all original. Not a rip in the seat either. Picking up Friday, will post pics. I need to stop buying these things.

That is only a small portion of my addictions. Cars, baseball, Slot cars, bmx bikes, computers, coins, pocket watches... the list goes on. I have to stay away from auctions... hit one this last weekend and bought a whole slot car collection
