    The 250R for 200.00 I bought

    Hey all,
I bought this 250r for 200.00 from a buddy. It is an 85 rolling complete frame minus the motor. He also gave me parts off an 86 he had and other misc. parts. I have 86 swingarm, forks and triples,airbox,2 sets of fenders and seats, rear tires and rims, and a new FMF Fatty pipe as well as the stock pipe.
This is the first 250R I have had and have many ?'s but my first ones are: How do you tell the difference between the 85-86 front forks and triples and is the sprocket hub removable on the 86 axle?
    Any help would be appriciated.

    Thanks

the triples look like 85's. the 86's have a black upper. the forks would have to be taken apart but are most likely 85's. no you can not remove the sprocket hub,.

The sprocket hub will come off but you will need to take it to someone with a press. You will have to push it towards the center of the axle first take off the retainig ring then press it off the axle .They are really on there hard though.good luck

oldsking86, I just looked in your signature, on that 250r how wide is that axle!? That looks extremely wide, I wish they made some like that for a 200x. Sorry for hijacking the post.

Thanks for the replies. I am going with the red plastic so the black could be available. Are the spring rate and setup the same on the 85 and 86?
