    Ipod...MP3

Can someone set me straight on Ipod's and MP3's? I want to know the normal stuff such as how each one works what they do and where does the music come from? Do you have to down load all the music?

    Thanks

Niether of those posts helped. What is the difference between an Ipod and a mp3. Why would you choose one of the other?

Oh i see now, ok an ipod is an mp3 player, just called ipods made by apple. BUT If you get the shuffle you have a basic mp3 player with no screen, if you get the nano u have an ipod with a screen, if you get the video you get to play music and videos Much bigger screen. If you get the iphoto you get to play music and have photos on it. So if your just looking to get a mp3 player go with a walmart one with a screen for a good 30$ and you straight. I have the shuffle that i bought for 5$ and well it gets frustrating to find songs with no screen. I pods are just the fancyer mp3 of the bunch. Like you have a computer right, you do your basics. Then you have hi end comps to where you ca play high 3d games n such. I like the ipod videos you can put full lenght movies on it.

Ohh if i was rich i would go with an ipod video, since im not i would go with a basic mp3 player. I mean you get a mp3 player to play music right, simple. Like i said if your just looking for music save some $$ and go with an everyday mp3 player. If you want somthing fancy go with the nano i guess. Realy facy go with the video. Stay away from shuffle.

dude i know where you are at. swore off ipods for he last 3 years or whatever. Then 1 day out of nowhere bought a nano. a lot easier than a cd player. I actually like the dang thing now. Girl freind has an 80 gig video Ipod. That thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. actually right now she is asleep and I am watching pirates of the carabian 2 on it. I think it would cost more for me to build an open source one then what they cost out of the box so maybe ill get one. The nano does not fit all my cds

I prefer an "MP3 player" to an iPod, because I despise mac products in general. I have a Sandisk Sansa e280 (almost same dimensions as iPod nano, but has a bigger screen, video, photo and fm radio). I use limewire to download most of my music, but there are always things like Raphsody and Napster for downloading music, plus ripping tracks from CD's. My 280 is 8.0 gig, and that can be expanded upon with a micro SD card (stick that in your pipe and smoke it nano lovers) that could bring it up to 10 gig if you so choose. My last player was a $40 sandisk 256mb, bare bones and small storage, but I beat the living tar out of it for a year till I got the new one, now my friend has it (I took pity on him after his got stolen) and is just as hard on it with no problems. I'd never go back to CD's after this thing, just something about being able to switch artists and genres on the fly I really like. Another thing I despise on the iPod is the lack of real buttons, touch controls make me want to stab myself in the eye with the CRKT folder that the MP3 player shares a pocket with.

Thanks for that info. My 8 year old is wanting one for some reason. I had no clue about anythign when it comes to ipod mp3's. I have lost the music fad, I just listen to what ever comes on FM when I'm driving most of the time. If the music ever gets good again like it was in the 80's early 90's, I will get back into music until then no way.

There is still some good music out there (mostly european Black/Death metal for me), but 99% of the mainstream stuff I'll agree sucks.

Just get him a cell phone with "iTunes". LOL, It will cost ya about as much as an MP3 player, and it's a phone too. I just got a Motorola SLVR, and love the iPod in it. Super easy to use. And, it only cost $41, and will hold 100 songs and well over 1000 pics and several videos.

Best part of being a metal head for me is not looking like one, then the bewildered looks when someone decides to listen in and grabs a head phone. I guess they expect whatever schlock they listen to, not Amon Amarth, or Slayer, or my personal fav Cannibal Corpse.
