I'm sure It will not fit. A TRX450 has a big axle like a 400EX or 250r. A 86-87 200x carrier Is alot narrower & has a smaller diameter axle. I just bought 2 off Ebay for a 86-87 200x.

the reason i ask is that mine is good but i figured that there are alot more axle options if i baught a 450r carrier and put it in my 86 extended swinger
It wont fit the swingarm either, a 450, 400ex, 250r, has a bigger & wider carrier than a 200x. If you cut the back section of a 85-86 250r swinger off & welded It to the 200x swingarm than you could do It.

a 83/84 250r axle and carrier will fit in it. I have a 83/84r axle in my 200x right now. Also I am pretty sure the carrier will fit it(it is almost identical)
what kind of mod work would be in order to get a 450r swinger to work on the 86 200x?
alot, different legnth, different width, motor mount is built-into the swinger, you will need the rear brake and stuff. It is nearly impossible. also the 86 200x is a no-link, trx450r has a linkege that attaches to frame.
if the 83-84 250R axles fits then I'm near certain that means an 83-85 200x one will also.
Couldnt you get a different I.D. bearing and run a bigger axle? Make the inner diameter hole in the bearing but same size outer and you should be able to install a bigger axle into the stock carrier using different I.D. (inner diameter) bearings?
