    XL600 motor

    I guess this is where this would go anyways...I'm wanting to know if these are good motors. I'm looking into a new project and was thinking this would make a good powerplant. I think I read somewhere that these only make like 35hp, is that right ? Any info on reliability, performance issues, parts avaibilty, etc..would be great. Thanks.

    I had a 83 XL 600, excellent motors ! Mine had 43 at the crank so the 35 your talking is rear wheel horsepower.

    Biggest problem you would encounter is having room for 2 carbs! Yes, they have duel carbs!

    Really great motors though. Mine was cranky/finiky when it got real cold out though (hard to start) so give that some thought too. Could of been just a jetting issue though but I think those engines were known for that.
