    200x cam

can someone tell me if the 200x cam has the same lift and duration as the 200 cam? I have a 185 and a 200 and am wanting to make one of them pretty quick - probably the 185..

I was thinking: split the 185 case and check it all out.. reassemble and put a 200 cyl. and head on it with a .20 over 200x piston. Will that raise the compression some?
If the 200x cam has better lift I will get one of those and run it with a 200x carb, uni filter and a dg pipe

sound like a good plan or not?

yea go with the 200x cam. it has more lift than the 200s. put the 200 cyl with a 200x head . (unless you want decompression) then get a 12:1 piston for it.

it all depends on how much you wanna put into it and how much power you want.

The 200x cam has more lift, I think the same duration though. I would go with the 10.25:1 wiesco piston. The 12:1 is ok but you will need race gas, a good headgasket, and a very good pullstarter. I just don't think the 12:1 was worth it over the 10.25:1. (yes I have a 12:1 in a 200s and my friend has a 10.25:1 in his 200s). The 200x piston is 9:1 compression rated and cost about the same as the wiesco.

Yes, 200x cam, carb. dg pipe, and uni sounds good.

thanks fox - your a true voice of reason.

I dont want to get alot into it. I have access to a machine shop and can mill the 200 head or run the 185 head.. I dont want to go with the 200x head tho cuz I would have to buy one.

this is a trike i picked up in decent shape for a couple hundred bucks... I would like have it upgraded and still have less than 600 or so in it.

I have several 185-200 motors also - just no 200x

where did you get your info on the piston? I can get a honda piston for about half the price... or a proX ( but I dont kno if they are any good)
am I shopping in the wrong places?

Also, does it matter what year it says it is for? I am looking at a piston on ebay and it says it is for 86-88. It will be going into a 81 ATC 200 cyl (bored to match)
    is this ok?

thanks - heres the auction info.

here is a great link. it helps me alot. http://www.3wheelerworld.com/spexhome.shtml

just look for the year. then look for the model. it gives most specs for most honda trikes.

yea I use it alot too but it doesnt list the cam lift and stuff like that..

It wont tell me if it matters to use a differ year piston when swapping from 200x to atc 200.

ooooo yea lol sorry man. i would think the pistons would swap as long as the bore is the same and the pistons have the cups in it.

Don't get the later model 200x piston (for 86-87 200x and TRX200sx) it will not work. The bore is the same but the piston will hit the head, someoneelse tried it, http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/s...ht=200x+piston I would not use it just to be safe.

As for price, The honda piston is cheaper but the weisco kit has the piston, rings, clips, and piston pin. Honda makes you buy everything seperate. I have not used a ProX, and I don't know if they make the higher compression pistons, they may only make the stock 200 (non X) compression piston.

Another thing to note is you can use a 1980-1983 and 1986 - on XR200/XR200R piston. They XR piston is the same as the 200x piston but the stock size is the 2nd bore for the 200x (stock bore for the XR is 65.50 compaired to the stock bore of the 200x at 65.00).

Here is a good one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...QQcmdZViewItem

Here is a post with somemore info on cam choices. http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/s...ght=megacycles

Cams really depend on where you want your power and how much money you want to spend. Generally the "better" cam will have more top end power but sacrifice at least a little low end. The general progression of cams you are looking at goes something like.. stock 200/185, stock 200x, stock XR200R, stock XR200 (Discontinued, now part # replaced with the XR200R one), then aftermarket companies.

ok.. I am guessing that the XR200R cam is the hottest stcok cam I can put in it - unless i can find a xr200? heres a link to one I just found http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true
and - you did not mention, but the xr200 piston is 10.25:1 right? thanks

hey, speaking of cams.. any idea if the 125 has better lift than the stock 110? I have like 3 or 4 old cams laying around and one of these days I am going to mic them suckers to see what I have.
I would like to put something better in this 110 - without paying 100$ for a new aftermarket - .........ideas??

i dont know that the 125m will swap..... just guessing
