    YT175 shifter position

i have recieved the new shifter linkage for the yt today. But something is wrong. When i went to put it on it was sticking way to high. Could someone take a pic of the whole shifter assembly while on the machine so i can see how it goes. I really need a detailed pic.

I did a quick search but didnt find it. The shift linkage was broke. I thought i got it to shift when i first got it but have been wrong. I went to install the new shifter and linkage and the shifter is at about an 70 degree angle. I am thinking maybe it has slipped on the splines that go to the motor or something. So i need a pic of the position it is on the motor and then the shift lever. The more i think about it the more i am concerned it is a bigger problem.

hey, put 3x3 in the search box, comes right up. looks like the engine end is at 6 o'clock, the center link should be adjustable.

Well I don't have the 175 but here is a picture of my 200 which is a similar setup. There are a few ways to adjust the shifter, move it on the splines on the shifter shaft coming out of the engine (1 in pic), or adjusting the connector linkage (2 in pic). My linkage is strait, I think the YT one is curved but anyways it is threaded on both ends with a locknut, loosen the nuts and twist the connector to extend the shaft (raises lever) or shrink the shaft (lowers lever).

*edit, I just looked at the setup on 3cylinders 175 and it is a little different then my 200 but still the same basic principles. It is the 125 that has the curved connector. Here is his picture*

4 cylinders, i am still not seeing it.

Fox, i wander if the position of the arm on the shaft is the same as on a yt175. Mine is in the same position as yours but it seems like it needs atleast an inch cut out of mine to put the shifter in the proper position. I have the adjustments screwed all the way in. I was thinking that arm on the shift shaft might have slipped to cause this problem but yours is in the same position i am thinking ( i am at work right now so i cant check it out) I still have not been able to gears to change yet. I am thinking it is because of the angle and leverage. I am worried it does have an internal issue. I am hoping it once i get this shift linkage straightened out it will shift. I will take pics if it is still daylight when i get home.

Ok now i am confused. That 175's linkage does not look like mine. It is a solid i piece connector. Maybe this is the problem i have the wrong linkage. maybe i am trying to put a 125 linkage on a 175. I am going to have to go home and investigate.

ok, the shifter arm had slipped on the shaft. I put on the new linkage and put the arm back in place and tightened the crap out of it. put a gallon of gas in it and she fired up in about 5 pulls. I took it around the block but it dies sometimes and will not crank back up until few minutes. I think it starves for fuel. I am going to rebuild the carb tomorrow but i sea foamed it for now to see if it helped

mine has the pull start too, and actually looks very similiar except for the shift linkage. I just took it around the block before i put it up. You can rev it all day in nuetral but if it is in gear and you rev it it will die out but if you just put around it runs great. it definatlry doesnt handle quite like i was hoping.

Also it could be the fuel pump. Is this thing needed. The tank is above the engine so it seems like it would gravity feed just like every other wheeler.

Would replaceing this part solve the play issue in the shifter. my shifter goes up like 3inches, before it shifts.
