Yeah I really need a longer cable that is why I don't have a foot brake anymore. There is enough space between the cable and pipe though, I bent the holder that goes on the clutch case to keep the cable from rubbing the pipe. Next up will be switching over to hydraulic brakes. The rear shouldn't be a problem as long as I can find a place to mount the foot master cylinder. The front will be tricky as I will need to make a disk mount.

Sweet! That should work a whole lot better then the standard brakes. What kind of bike will you get the callipers off? As for the front end, a Tri-Z front end would be cool??

Not totaly sure what I am going to do. I still have a set of new brakes from a Canondale (sp?) quad that I got off ebay a while back. I figure I will use the rear caliper, rear master, front master. Then for the front caliper I might use the quad one or go with one from a motorcycle. I already have the narrow front rim that bolts to the stock hub, then I can remove the brake hub and make an adapter to mount the disk to the drum mount. After that some type of mount will be put on the fork leg to hold the caliper and I will be set .

I was thinking about using the whole tri-z front end but I don't want to mix bikes that much. I also think it would make the front end too tall. I have also thought about swapping over to a 200x front hub so I can use the disk mount, narrow tire and speedo drive , I don't know if I want to have Honda parts on the Yamaha though.

That is another good idea. I really don't know what I want for the front end. I am not sure how I feel about putting Honda parts on this one (the next project will have some mixing ) and I am not even 100% sure I want the narrow front tire.

I am looking forward to the brake conversion, I think it will help out a lot. I plan on staying away from using trike brakes though, there is already enough demand for them and I can find motorcycle/quad brake stuff a lot cheaper.

I do like the way it is turning out but yes it has taken a good amount of time. I went through the stock trike when home from school on break and that took almost 2 years, it would have been a year if I wasn't chasing an engine noise that ended up being a worn cam journal on the inside of the head. The performance parts just took a few days to sandblast, paint and install. I did the blasting and painting when I was home in October for a long weekend.

All in all I have had this trike for a little over 3 years and I have only ridden it for about 4 hours. I am just glad that I have the Big Red now; it is always there ready if I want to go riding.

Update. I was home for Easter weekend so I pulled the Yami out. I installed some new floorboards so now I realize I need to straiten my foot pegs because they are really bent. I also added a better chain tensioner but that will have to come off again, sometimes the chain hits the head of the bolt that hold it spring loaded arm on. I took advantage of my brother being there with his digital camcorder so I have a 2 minute long video of it running and me taking it around the yard.

I also swapped out the stock 42 tooth steel rear sprocket for an aluminum 38 tooth one. It was able to wheelie easily in 1st, ok in 2nd, and just come up in 3rd. Now it will barely come up in 2nd. I figure when I get some 20" tires on the rear this summer the gearing will be right where I want it.

    The video....
