Can't get brake drum off

Hey, I just had a 1982 185s given to me and I went to change the rear bearings/seals and I cant get the brake drum off. I've never had a problem with them before but I guess it wants to be a meany lol. What do you all recommend for removing it.

Is there an exterior adjustment for those brakes? If so try loosening the adjustment screw (or cable adjustment) up as much as you can.

I'd be really careful with this because you don't want to crack the drum, but with automotive brakes it's very common to hit the drum a few times with a

the axle turns freely, there is no brakes left and I even tried to heat it up and soaked it in wd-40 and tried to pound it thru but it wouldnt move

Make sure there aren't screws on the drum holding it to the hub. This is how it is on my 250es.

im pretty familiar with how they go on Ive done it a bunch of times but never had any problems with them and this one just wont slide of the splines and i dont want to break anything

maybe a bigger

???

Maybe try using a pipe wrench to wiggle it back and forth and slide it off?

You've got to heat up the area around the splines, thats the only way except for ruining it.

I use a thick black grease on all my splines and never have this problem unless it's something I din't tear into before....

Here is how I deal with stubborn nuts and bolts.

1. Get a propane torch
2. Get some quality penetrating oil [WD 40 is garbage IMO]
3. Get a

Heat the splines around the drum and then pour water on it or sometimes I spray the oil directly on it..becareful sometimes the oil spray will ignite if it gets hot enough or ive herd of people spraying compressed air on it to cool it aswell but never tried that. Then tap all around the drum with a

and repeat until it comes free. You've just gotta be persistant with this. If you think theyre is alot of rust/gunk in the splines sprey some brake cleaner inside it, It will help loosen it up.
