Glad I got to see the ebay reprint shroud decals on a Tecate before I bought any. They look good but are not quite as exact a copy as he made them out to be.
Great Job! I love the stock look about it. Excellent ride !!![]()

i guess i didnt realize the stickers were different than original. i know the 86/87 are different. it was a very easy conversion to do. i like that it says 250 on the stickers and noone knows it is really a 500
Awesome Job! What year kxt 500 motor is it?

dj, the difference in those shroud decals from stock is that the dark blue stripe is too thin and the white stripe too thick. Also, in the Kawasaki label there is less white between the letters. very minor stuff. When we saw those auctions come up, my wife and I got out my original shrouds and fenders with the stock decals to compare to the ebay decals. There's a few other minor things with rear fender stickers too. again I must stress they do look great. If it had been my auctions, I wouldn't have claimed they were exact replicas.
That's probably my favorite 500 conversion I've seen! In my opinion, You can't beat the stock look of it.

That is one sweet machine dude!! Wheelies in 5th gear you say? Does it pull 'em with no problem?(meaning can you just be crusing in 5th, snap the throttle and have front end lift?)

yup 5th gear wheelie is correct. im sure if it had a longer swingarm it might be a lil harder but itll do it no problem. the only thing im gonna change is the swingarm. im gonna make it 8 inches longer and get rid of the linkage setup. just gonna run a direct mount shock. other than that i want it to look stock. oh well about the stickers. i guess if you cant get originals these decals will do. yeah if the guy said exact copies then i think they should be that. oh well
Awesome looking conversion man that thing is wicked! Did the motor fit right in the frame, or did it have to be modified at all? Oh, and the stickers are not an exact copy, but they are the same deal as the reproduction shrouds the guy is making and selling on ebay. Not original quality, but without any other options you have to take what you can get. I may get a set of those stickers myself. The biggest thing that bugs me about them is the green above the letters where it should be white. But hey not like you can order them up from kawasaki lol.

the 86 kx500 was a direct bolt in. just made new mounting brackets for the top. its tuff to access the spark plug with the tank on though, and the upper left radiator hose is a bit tricky to work out. dont know why more guys havent done this. it seems much easier than the atc500r conversion. you cant even tell a 500 is in there unless you look closely and see the gigantic cylinder. if you didnt know better it would fool many people.
