    86 tri z 250 98 yz 250 motor

    hi this is my 1st post i found a 1998 yz 250 motor on ebay and wanted to know if its possable to put it on a 86 tri z i want to get some thing thats not so hard to find parts for and keep my tri z . if anybody knows what needs to be done for this to work that would be great.. thanks

    well glad you found us!!! and I cant help you on the tri-z stuff, sorry homie, but give it a few mins and you will be bombarded with answers from all the yami nuts

    I belive they Dont fit cause of the powervalve Castin on the Cyl wont clear the frame......Have to wait for Billy to chime in, i think he looked into it a while back.

    Yeah, I'm trying to remember the 98 motors. But I tried a 92 and it definitely didn't work. The current style (I think they started in 98, but I'm not sure) has a very large sorta square PV assembly on the top of the cylinder that from my calculations would play hell with the bottom of the radiators on the Zs. The 92 era motors wouldn't have that problem, but the bottom frame rail mount, the head stay, and the front mounts under exhaust were all quite a little different from the Z.

    yeah,i like this idea too and if we all had unlimited funds we could make it work.there are also some other areas that would be affected.
    1} the rear kicker will not clear the frame or plastic
    2}you also would have to go with out a lighting system.
    Here is where my long useless list of stuff nobody cares about should go...
