I have an 83 185s and an 80 185 and an 84 es in my garage right now, i may be wrong but the you would need front forks with the tabs on them in order to mount the rack to, neither of my 185(s) have those one the forlks, my es does.
My digital camera is shot, I could send you a picture from my cell phone.

The seller is pushing that it may fit but I am having 2nd thoughts.

those round looking clamp peices in the one picture are what attaches it to the forks. it's the same way the 85 atc125m headlite guards attched.

If the kit comes with the brackets that you mount to the forks and then mount the rack to, you'd be golden, but if he can't tell you if they would fit for sure, save your money.
I bought a rear rack once that the guy swore it would fit my 200s, but the brackets were hacked, I fabbed my own, but the point was I was buying a "bolt on" rack and it took some work to bolt on.
