Well here are some pics, i am using the rear mount through the swing arm bolt, had to do some modifying , added 8 inches to the swingarm also. Im sure everyone did theirs different from everyone else
Hmmm, i see you guys didnt use the rear mount, what frame mods did you do to get the rear mount of the motor to line up with the swingarm bolt? For one reason or another i felt at the time using the 250r rear mount was the way to go,....im not about to rip this apart and start over though, im going to make a piece that goes in between the carb boot and the reeds that is tapered kinda like a triangle that will level the carb out and see where that gets me. I plan on running just a k@n pod anyways so im not concerned with lining up the intake boot. The copper line is actually a coolant line that i think i will change to something more professional looking. Also heres a pic of my trail bike. It has an 05 450r swingarm, axle and shock which made i good improvement, paul turner jug and a few other goodies.
So how do you plan on routing the chain? are you moving the swingarm pivot as well?

i hate to tell you that yours will not work but i do not think it will. the chain will eat the swinger in no time.
to make this work you have to get the rear sprocket centerd with the swingarm bolt. to do that you use the swingarm bolt through the rear mount and lower the front. to lower the front you have to notch the rear brace and cut out/replate the lower the tubes or notch them.
in the end you will have to redo all your mounts to make this work out. looks like nice work so far!!
i agree with 200x basket.don't get upset, but you will be far better off to start over.your not too far along anyway.
heres how we did mine.jason hall is a god btw,he cut the lower frame cradle in front of the rear cross brace, and below the front motor mounts.he the hung the cr motor from the stock 250r head stay, and lined the rear engine boss,up with the swinger bolt.then 1 custom spacer will be needed for the swinger to tighten up.next he bent 2 new frame cradle tubes, and welded them under her.he made a solid steel skid plate to stiffen the frame back up.made the front motor mounts, and sent her home.everything on my bike is like factory.i can change the plug,a kicker fit with relative ease, all my stock 250r rad. hoses work,,the carn will even line right up with a stock airbox.all i did was lenghten the shifter, built a kick starter, and did all the plumbing.heres some pics to compare.i can fill you in a bit more if you want, just don't want to drag this post out.when your ready for a kicker, use a cr250 lower knuckle, and a yz 400-426 kicker.it will fit perfect, and clear the frame.you got a good start, but i think you need to back tract.200x basket has built 2 of these, trust him!heres some pics

Yes i checked out the whole thread, i also looked at 200xbaskets articles. Now that the guesswork is gone it shouldnt take long to revise it. Another thing i meant to ask is this, do you have any problems with the frame cracking anywhere? It seems everyone i talk to says my frame will crack, i personally dont see why it would, the cr frames hold up just fine and they look basically the same. So is it all a myth as i am suspecting or has anyone actually had problems??
Some 500's vibrate worse than others. I bet alot of people say that because of the quads have problems with cracking. I would expect vibration similar to what the bike originally had. My '90 CR500 vibrated less than my buddies '95 and '01. I know of one guy with a '96 that is worst I have seen. The vibration on all them is tolerable. My old '83 CR480 besides the noisey coooling fins, is very smooth surprisingly. Maybe it is the trueness of the cranks? motor mounts? idk...

the 1st one i built cracked by the peg on the 2nd owner. he just welded in a gusset. that is why i welded the large skid plate on the bottom. The Dog also has a skid plate welded one. the plate acts as a huge gusset to strengthen the frame.
