    My 1984 Honda 250R Project

Well, I decided to make a thread for my project hoping that once again it will help keep me on track. Also I will put most all of my questions retaining to it here now instead of making a new topic everytime I have a question so I dont flood the boards. I warn you, there will be alot of questions asked since it is a basket case but there will be pictures of the progress as well because I know how you all love pics!

Anywheres here are a couple of what I am starting with, nothing more than a couple boxes of parts, a couple bottom ends and two beat up frames. Right now I am trying to decided whether to buy a new frame or fix one of these. The black frame has poorly welded grab bar mounts and no front pipe mount while the red frame has messed up grab bar mounts and some other problems. Pics of these will be posted later tonight............

Well I am late at adding this, ended up doing a side job and making some money today so that was good. Anyways here is the problems with the frames. The red frame has messed up grab bar mount(s) and a rear brake mount as well as some broken bolts but it has a front pipe mount. The black one pretty much just has the front pipe mount gone which I think I could cut off the other frame and weld on to this one if I go that route. Also the grab bar mounts have been tweaked in the past. I think I could fix the grab bar mounts once I have a new grabber mount it up to the ends and weld them on and grind them flat. Would this be alright or should I get a different frame? Here are the pics, thanks for any help!

Just to add an update my head was sent off a couple days back to be deburred and milled and it should be back within a couple days. Also I won a rear engine mount bracket and a kicker on ebay.... What would be a good grab bar choice for this? EDIT: I am thinking of either the PRM Baja or Desert bar....

I just got 2 of the Desert bars and love the way they look. I will post a pic of my 85 tomorrow. Are you thinking of welding the grab bar to the frame? You would be welding aluminum to steel.

No, I am thinking if I use the grab bar once I get it I may be able to realign the mounts right on the frame and make them look good. As you can see in the one pic of the black frame its mounts have been welded but it looks like crap....

Thanks for the pics man, I havent gotten around to the project lately since I was tied up in snowmobiling and i got in an accident with the sled and have been sinking money into that but heres an update. I did get my head back which was horribly burred and now it is pretty cleaned up, I also had it milled down a couple thousandth's.(Either 1 or 2 cant remember right now) Also the fin was chipped but I ground it flat as you will see in the one pic and I dont think it should make it run any hotter. I am hoping I wont have to run over 93 octane but if I do oh well. This trike is mainly going to be a mid range and top end bike which is a big switch from stock but thats what I am shooting for. Well heres a couple pics and the sled I have been working on is in there too. Let me know what you think!

Do you mean the ones in the last post or before because before was just a bunch of parts. I took it down since I had to take more pics.
