    250x/350x quad size

I'm looking at a conversion quad and was wondering what the physical size of the 250x quad is. Does it compare to a 400ex in size or is it alot smaller. I'm real tall so there aren't a whole lotta things that fit me well, but this thing is going cheap and I thought I might give it a try.

Put basically - All a 300EX is, is a 250X with a larger displacement engine and electric start but with a smaller carb. Even the plastics on the 300EX still have the indent for the now missing kick start from the 250X motor. The 250X's dimensions were 67.7"L x 43.5"W x 42.7"T. Wheelbase was 45.3". I know the 400EX was quite a bit larger in all dimensions, especially width. I had a '91 250X and I'm 6'1", 250lbs. I would say that would be about the maximum for fairly comfortable riding. Anyone taller might have trouble with tipping, hitting their knees ...etc in turns.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm 6'6" so that thing would be pretty small for me. I may keep an eye on it and pick it up for a project if it stays cheap enough. I could always fix it and resell it to make money to put on a different quad. Thanks guys.

It doesn't matter what you buy, I'm 6'5" and we are both going to look like monkeys on just about anything... But the trx 250r is going to be the best size and price for what your lokking to do. I did some research and it is the same size as the new sport quads...i.e. 450r and 400ex's. There is or was a 250r frame for sale that was already fitted for a 350x motor on e-bay.......

if its the 350x 250x engine on ebay if it got iver 800 i wouldnt recomend buying it.. putting the engine in the frame is the easy part... making the exhaust witch he said in the auction is missing is the hard part.. if you were worried about width the stock 400 arms and shocks bolt up with little modification. the 350x swinger shock all bolts up and is about 1.5" longer along with 350x axel and is about 2" wider.. ive owned both 400 and 300 and i prefer the 300 it just feels a ton lighter in my opinion.. but im also only 6'

I know, my first real trike was a 200x!

I've looked at that many times, but I think the money involved would equal to what I could get a z400 or something similar.

Yes that's it, it's not that far from me and I don't see the price getting real high. I've never owned a quad and was thinking that might be a good start, but I don't want something that's real small.

If it stays low I may get it. If it gets over 500-600 dollars I'll probably back off. I'm trying to find something that I can buy without having to sell my 350x. Actually I won't sell my 350x for anything.... so I'm looking into getting into quads as cheap as possible, but still get a little performance. Most 400ex and such are in the mid to upper $2000's, which is a little to much for me to spend.

what we always did was add 2 inches to the front of the 250x frame and use a plus 2 swing arm.

this makes a 250x about the same size as a 400ex and about a inch shorter then a 250r.

heres some pics of a stretched x

you can buy a 400ex exaust headder and bend it just slightly and it fits, I'm about to to a 250x to 350x conversion and that is what I am going to do.
