    250 big red, low spark

My 250 B.R. starts one day and the next day it wont start.I checked the spark and it is low (it's not a big spark) what could cause this .Then after a few days it will start out of the blue. How do you adjust the choke on the carb.It won't start with out the choke on or run with out the choke half way.How do you adjust the air screw on the carb with the engine running,I burnt my fingers on the exhaust pipe and could not get to the adjusting screw. Is there a trick to this .Any help would be great.I have week spark and my choke is not set properly.I will take any advice I can get.......Thanks,svo58

"One day it has OK spark and the next it doesnt" means bad electrical wiring. Honda is plagued with that problem. My 250R did that till I fixed the bad CDI plug, then it would start on half a kick when warm.

Weak spark needs more fuel to start (needs choke) because it takes more fuel to help a weak spark jump across the spark plug electrodes.

This can be hard to fix...

If it was a bad part (ignition box or stator) then most likely it would be hard to start all the time.

I can rebuild the system for you if you want.

    G-k
