    axle refinishing

hey, has any body out there ever had an oem axle replated ? im looking for some one to replate a tecate axle, any body know what they were plated with when new? i have been looking at the kit from eastwood to do electro plating at home 70 bucks dosen't sound to bad money wise if you could do a couple axles it would be worth it. any info would be great.

I don't know about a Tecate but Honda has nice Zinc coating on there parts. I have no idea how it's done, maybe we should research it a bit.....

Ive thought about electroplateing for axles, seams like it would work good, except that the coating would build up on everything (threads, splines ect) not sure if you just taped everything off it that would work, or if youd have to just plate everything and somehow clean it off afterwards. Anyone have electroplating advice? Also..that kit from eastwood is a pail, some batterys, wires, alligator clips... really basic stuff you probebly have laying around, just buy their zinc/nickle bars and find or buy some acid!

I know this is an old thread but using the search function I have not found much on the subject. Looking for a company to zinc plate a couple axles in CT,RI, or MASS
