how would you go about making a 3 wheel drive big red?

need some kind of spliter to shoot power up to the front wheels through the top tube some how.

or maybe it could be done with parts from one of those rokons or whatever they call those tractor tired 2 wheel drive motorcycles?it would have a chain driven front wheel then.

run a axle through the top tube some how??

have a CV joint and the head tube?

with a compact 90* gear box that is also the top triple tree?

run a drive shaft through one of the fork arms?

the drive shaft housing would be one of the fork arms and there would be another 90* gearbox down at the wheel hub.

it would have a air cooled 350 rancher motor in it. and it would be a mudding monster.

man i would buy one of these if i could.

Are you kidding? Just buy a 4X4 quad, leave the ATC alone. The only way I can think of would be an output shaft on the motor that drives a cable that drives a ring and pinion to get the front wheel spinning. Sounds like alot of work and a big hassle to me...

you'd have to covert on of the old 2wd rokon or other 2wd "dirtbikes". Its not worth it though although very cool idea

probably the easiest way is to wipe out the rear diff, install a hydrulic pump and tank off the shaft drive and run 3 equal pumps for the wheels, run the motor at a constant velocity, and use a variable valve for fluid drive; it would be slow, but a varitable tank when finished.

anything with a splitter, and shafts, gear boxes, extra chains would compromise the engine beyond belief, I 'm pretty certain each U-joint is equal to a 5% power loss, gearboxes are about 12% and the chain drive system would have to be pretty unique concidering that you have 3.5 inches of travel in the suspension

Bolt another wheel to the outside of one of your back wheels = 3WD
Bolt one to the otherside as well = 4WD
    Bolt 4 to each side = 10WD

Where do you stop? The sky's the limit!!!!!

    P.S lol.

How about just mounting another motor on the front rack, and running a chain down to drive the wheel.

    Just thinking outside the box.

I was thinking about the same thing, but then I thought, Imagine how hard it would be to make your front tire and your rear tires go at the same speed, so I thought if you have an engine on the front and have electric start on it and have it on full throttle, and just before the mudhole you hit the electric start button, then maybe a 7hp snowblower engine kicks in and sends your front tire spinning at 100mph Just a though that someone should try sometime on a trike with a strong front rack.
