    odd secondary clutch wear

    Hello!

    After looking into my secondary clutch a little more I see that the inner ,metal plates are worn pretty badly. (perhaps they are supposed to be this way?)

    They are worn on one side only worn to were they are sharp on the edges of that side, and the wear is completely directional, not around but back and forth, as if someone put them to sandpaper. Maybe someone did eh?

    does anyone know what the specs/thickness of these is supposed to be, the manual does not list it. I would assume because they dont wear.

    is it possible to buy four of these alone? no friction plates?

    are you talking about the friction plates that go behind the clutch plates? Its goes

    cp,fp,cp,fp,cp,fp,cp,fp.

    cp= clutch plates
    fp=friction plate

    If so those are what i ask about in your other thread. You can score them up like i stated last time and see if it doesent slip. If those are not catching then it will slip. Try it out, also im sure you can buy those seperate. I would try scoreing them up first.

    You are talking about the metal ones? correct? with the splines on the inside, not the coated ones.

    I see. I think I mistook your advice in the other thread.

    apparently someone already must've already made a poor attempt to sand them(on one side only)

    so do you think filing to take the knife edge off and roughing up the surfaces will do the trick?

    and if I could ask another thing in this thread... is it possible to buy the clutch cover gaskets individually?

    Man, just buy the clutch kit. they're not that expensive and it makes no sense to "rough" the surfaces up, waste a gasket putting it back together, and then very possibly it not solving the problem at all. Just spend the money and do it right the first time. Its usually the springs htat cause half the problems anyway.

    The order actually always starts with a friction plate and ends in a friction plate.

    See if your trike's manual is on here and download it to find the spec for your clutch plate. http://www.drivehq.com/file/ShowFold...shareID=233462

    I wouldnt replace them if they are not worn past spec.

    What problem were you having with it before you took it apart?

    ohh sorry i was mistaken, well he says it only slips in like 1rst gear or 2nd, so it may be believe a clucth plate or friction plate not grabbing.

    I have a clymer and a yamaha manual, neither give specs on clutch plates, only friction plates.

    The trike likes to slip a little on take off, and it seems in second as well sometimes. It will engage fully in its own time and surprise me. Not bad though... just enough to let me know that sometimes Im not getting its full power.

    I have another thread about the primary... I think its worn pretty far past specs.

    the secondary friction plates measure fine.
