Turbo crank mod, is it worth the money?

I found someone that does this turbo crank modification, and curious if anyone thinks it is worth a hundred bucks. I understand the concept behind it all, but is there any downside? Can anyone say that they have been through this experience, and believe it was worth the expense?

Thanks Shee, that's what I was looking for! I think I will spring for the extra money, and hope that there can't be any down side to this modification.

Ive heard of knurling or whatever you call it, its like the "cross-hatch" that gets pressed in, you dont loose any weight with it, but I think it would stir the air up in your crankcase a bit better.

Hey 03 OS, dont you have that "mini" flywheel on your Z?

Does your bike even idle? haha the crank has got to be real light.

Do you have to split the crank to do that, or can it stay together?

I just got my crank balanced and now I want it knurled! I dont want to pay 50 bones to have it rebalanced.

yes, i have the pvl/motoplat ignition, is has that tiny flywheel, smaller than the yz one.
my crank has deeper groves in it, maybe 2/16 of an inch, but not as big as the ol' mans z, it idles, but its got a ruff idle, like a big cam on a four stroke

How do you "Knurl" the crank with out splitting it? It this really possible, wouldnt you get metal shavings in your case???

what do you mean by turbo crank mod? knife edging the crank? or the knurling? and mnnmaz, he said they press it in so i dont believe it would make metal shavings....
the one downside i know aboutknife edging it, at least with my friends race truck is you gotta watch how high you rev it closer, a little too much gas, and there being less resistance will make it rev too high if your not careful...

Well I went to my "machine" shop today to see if they could knurl my crank. Turns out my machinist died in the shop somehow! The place closed down and now its a trading card shop! I still cant believe it....
