any idea how to install the drive gear on a 1985 250r. Had new cases pressed on and putting it back together to find no punch marks on the crank.

Sorry raffa but thats totally incorrect on the 250R. You have to have the drive gear, and the counter balancer gears timed or the engine will shake itself apart.
to the OP I'm guessing you've got a new hotrod crankshaft right? Mine didn't have punch mark either and instead had only a very small scraped line although yours doesn't even appear to have that...I don't even know what to tell you do, your SOL!

The punch mark is ligned up Center Line with the Pin that hold's the rod"oposite of the Heavy side" of the Crank
