    ytm 200n i need help

    hi my name is adam and i just baught a 1985 ytm 200n, and i was wondering if anybody could give me some advise. the machine starts up fine but when i give it gas it bogs down at high rpms. it will putts around but i can't really get it over 5mph because of the excessive bogging. it also smokes a lot when i gas it. when i give it full throttel it revs up then bogs down then revs up and then bogs down and keeps doing that while smoking alot. it idels fine but i don't know what to do. if anybody has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it. i have already ran some carb cleaner through it but it didn't seem to do much. thanks

    If Its A 2 Stroke Lean Up On The Mix Or If Its A 4 Stroke And It Smoke Time For A Rebuild On Topend.

    wha colr smoke? i think you need to take your carb apart and clean and inspect everything. i think thats why its bigging down. also does it have compression?

    if it dident have compression it wouldent start. also if the smoke is a light blue you need rings. but if its a 2 stroke then that would be different, lets get some info bro.

    could be running lean(blue/white smoke) or rich(black smoke). as for compression i didnt mean if it had any but if it was low or something. so

    Wow a fit?
    For one if it was lean it wouldent smoke.
    For two if it was rich it wouldent be black.
    As for compression if it was "low" then that would mean rings as i stated above.
    For three i dident call you bro. It was a stance towards adam on whats going on, with the symthons.

    hey guys thanks for helping me out , the smoke is white or light bluish but definetly not black, but it is thick when i rev it up. i can get it move but it pours smoke out. when it is ideling it doesn't really smoke at all. and by the way it is a four stroke if that helps at all. i also checked the air filter which it good the plug had some gunk on it but cleaned it up with a wire brush but it didn't do much. thanks again for the help,i really want to get this thing runnging correctly.

    alright clean your carb out really good, try that new gas and everything thing, if it still burn oil then you migh tneed a rebuild on top end.

    what would a rebuild of the top end consist of and how much do you think parts would cost? i am not too familiar wih engines. should i take every part out of the carb or is there some specific peices or spots that need to be cleaned better than others. is there a possibility the float or needle is messed up? and do you know the original settings the mixture screw should be at ? would the burning oil cause the engine to bog?

    give this stuff a try.

    Start witth the simple things. take the carb apart and let it sit in this stuff for a day or so. You can pick it up at any auto parts store.

    yes. you have to take out all the rubber orings and gaskets, along with any plastic pieces that may be in there. I would suggest taking some digital pictures during disassembly for reference if your not familiar with the workings of a carb. (speaking from experience. )

    ok i got my ytm running way better. it actually moves now. it is still puffing a ton of smoke out though, it is white smoke. i am not sure how to fix it i think it might be the mixture but i dont know where it should be. thanks alot
