    '85 Tecate tank modification thoughts.....

Today I moved my tank back about 7/16" using the flat pieces of four other tank mounts for spacers(no drilling that way), and ground my steering stops back to where I have about a 1/8" clearance between the forks and tank. It made a noticeable difference visually in my lock to lock radius, but frankly.....I want a little more.

My question: Has anyone ever (with any success) tried to apply heat, in some way or another, to a plastic tank in order to alter it's shape? I just need sort of a dish shaped indention maybe about 1 1/2" deep.

I have a couple extra tanks, one of which I would sacrifice for the cause since my chances of finding a Tecate short course tank, or affording one if I did find it, aren't too inspiring.

It seems to me that if the tank were heated slowly and carefully to a mild temperature, that it could work.

    Any thoughts?
