Another TIRE Thread...

Well i tried searching, but i never seem to get the results i'm looking for... and new sizes and types of tires come out all the time...

I ride in everything from dirt, to grass, to rocks(pebbles-baseball sized), to snow, to creeks, to mud, to TREES... Sorry no sand in PA...
Right now i'm running 25x13.5-9 buckshot mudders. They have half the tread or more left but all they do is spin when the ground freezes or if i'm in the snow or mud.

I'm looking for a tire that isn't so aggressive that i won't get slide out if it, but that i can climb a snowy incline without having to get a 6th gear run for it. I'd prefer a FLAT tire instead of a ROUND tire but it really doesn't matter to me. Trails are my main riding area, and i don't have to worry about ripping up the grass. i'm looking for a rather large tire. No more than 24" but no less than 20". No preference on Width. I'm running the stock honda rims which i believe are 9x9 but correct me if i am wrong.

My ride is an 86 200x with a mild cam. It pulls the 25's with ease, pulling the front tire up in 1st and 2nd back to the grabbar, and 3rd as far as i want, but i don't have the guts to ride on 2 wheels + grabbar in 3rd . I'm running stock gearing. 13-38 but I have a spare 12 tooth front sprocket.

I'm also not rich, made of money, or have a large bank account... therefore under ~65 dollars a tire would be preferable.


On a side note, My left rim is slightly bent... i'd say a half inch to 1 inch of "wobble" in it. How well do the .190 red label's work?? or are aftermarket rims frounded upon for rough trails? How thick are the stock rims?? and what measurement are they using to call them ".190"?? I saw they have numerous sets on ebay for 85 dollars if i remember correctly.

i havent tried them yet but i've heard nothing but good about titan fast trekkers. There is a guy on ebay with the name megatires and he sells both tires shipped for like $78. He doesnt have any 9 inch trekkers listed right now but i emailed him and he said just to call them and they have them.

don't your fenders rub the tires with 25's on? I'm surprised that the x pulls the 25's so well with stock gearing. have you tried a smaller tire? you may lose ground clearance, but with the saved weight I would think it would seem like you hopped up your motor. I ran 20" bandits on my 350x and liked them alot, not sure if they come in 22's or what they cost though.

Yes i see them here... Anyone run Fast Trekkers have an opinion on them??? do they go well in the snow?

Just look at my Avatar. They have plenty of room... I'd say atleast 5-6 inches... and yes it pulls them pretty well... The tires go excellent in dry terrain... i can go up a 40* incline in 2nd to 3rd gear without it lugging...

I had some 18's...they ran good on the home track and trails...never tried them in the snow.

it looks good. I'm sure the extra ground clearance is nice on the trails . have you upgraded your suspension or is it stock? I ask because I have 22's on my 86 and it seems they are almost too close to the fenders ?

No i have stock suspension on it... I'll post some closeups of the clearance here in a few minutes... yes the clearance is wonderful!!!

thank you tyman for making this thread, I also would like some ideas for some tires. I ride about the same kind of terrain you do. My x has some carlisle trail pros and they just don't cut it, looking for something with a more agressive tread pattern.

Plenty of clearance... but they really sling the mud up over the fenders, since they are soo wide...

i run fast trekkars as a religion.i like them alot.you can get them in a 20" tire also,which is what max uses for a trail tire.they hook up well in anything.also check out carlisle trail wolfs,i know for a fact they are a great tire for traction in any terrain,plus you can get them for the front,andrear!

they do ok,better then a holeshot,or 400ex tire.look into those trailwolfs dude,i think thos would fit your need very well.don't go so tall though,your trike will be more fun,and less stress on the motor.25 is way too big imo!try those 20"wolfs!!!!!!

I have three sets of fast trackers and a few buddys of mine also run them, and I go them from the place above as well, they work great all around and I my machines hard, and they hold up great, you wont be dissapointed. anything over 20 inchers have a slightly differnt tread that I dont like, I would stick, with the 20 inchers they work great.

I love the Maxxis All Trak's. I had them on both 200 X's I once had, then on a 250X four wheeler and now on my 250 SX.

Great all around tire and you can turn them either way, I never did though.

You can find them for between 50 & 60 bucks a tire.

What you see on the SX are 22X11X8

The side knobs stick out beyond the sidewall just a bit, really helps out with guarding the rim edge froms rocks and stuff. It's a 2 ply that thinks it's a 6 ply! If you goit a flat you STILL could ride all day with it being flat, no problemo!

Desent in snow too.
