i have a 03 cr 125. when i got it out after winter it fired right up. went riding and came back fine. next day would not start. lost compresion too. so i push started and it fired up and ran fine, compression was good. then when i shut it off steam came out of the exaust. now it has no compression at all. im not sure if water got in the cylinder or what. im going to rebuild w a wiseco pro lite piston and done want this to happen again. any info would be nice.

Sounds like a blown head gasket, but I could be wrong.

Yeah im guessing blown headgasket, if thats the case tear it apart right away and get the water outta the crankcase. It will rust everything to heck, my first dirtbike i ever owned was a 84kx125, and the owner told me similar story. The headgasket was the culprit but he left it sit for like two weeks with the coolant in the case so the bike needed a total engine rebuild instead of a top end job. I could be wrong but I just wanted to let you know

i got it torn apart today. the head gasket blew out letting water into the cylinder. piston and everything seems fine. the water was froze too. what kind of oil does the bottom end take. 90w gear oil?

It doesnt take any oil in the bottom end thats why you mix the gas and oil or do you mean the oil for the transmission. I use pj1 clutch saver but thats just me, you should go with manufacturer recomendations.
