    Just got another bike...

Yeah got another one today. 1989 XR100 for 300 bucks. Found the ad on craigslist as "locked up engine", turns out the cam chain slipped off the cam gearand just kinda fell behind it. Any of you guys sharp with these things? I was thinking about just buying a new gear and putting it back together, but, I dunno if the chain is full of slack or not....what do you think I should do, new gears and chain or just try the gear and see? If I can get it going in time and waterpumpers got the extra space on his trailer I might bring it to Trikesfest and kinda a pitbike....I'm too big to ride it anywhere else lol. Later....

If its only a matter of gaskets and that one fix then by all means go for it.

Lets see some 490 pics, all stock?

http://profile.imageshack.us/user/elkyss81/ pics of YZ490 are there. Kinda fuzzy because they're from my cellphone but you can see what it is. From what I was told, it's been bored .060 over, pro circuit pipe, ported, head work done, different carb, and runs off 103 octane fuel. It runs pretty damn good. I bought it from hancadam here on the board.

oh man, I would have kept it old school yellow and black. sweet ride though. I went skiing the other day with my 1985 skis, its been 20 years since I went. You should have seen the young whipper snappers checkin my old school pink lettered bindings. that was the shizzle back in the day. (theres some new school lingo for you)

Haha well I didn't change the colors, I kinda like the black and Yellow myself, but the blue looks damn good so I'm not gonna change it. Scott, have your heard of craigslist? There's deals on there from time to time. They've got one for Memphis.

Yeah it'd be sweet. I pass right through Memphis when I go home, and Bartletts close to there right? You ever go up to Willie's place? Maybe we could meet there or something....me and him are talking about going to Bruceton this weekend possibly. Who knows tho.

Nice 490 j.d....I do believe someone changed the color scheme to blue, but it was never yellow and black. Yamaha had abandoned this by 1984, and went to white fenders, with a red seat etc...but I do agree the old yellow and black looked cool. In fact they are making some retro graphic and fender kits for the new yamahas that have the old late 70's and early 80's bumblebee thing going on lol. I bet since that 490 has a four speed and is geared so high in first, you are going to have to end up gearing it down a tooth on the front sprocket for riding around west tn. LOL shoudln't cost too much to do and try and see if you like it
