    Chrome Powder Coating

Sending out my swingarm and axle to get powder coated chrome. Has anyone on here ever done powder coat chrome before. Taking it to ups tomorrow and the guy says he will have it back to me at end of week. Hope it looks good. Warm weather is here and I got the itch.

There you go. A close up pic and a pic from far away that you can semi-see it. It doesnt look too chrome from close up, but when you are a little further away it looks great. Four_By_Ken from the boards did mine for me.. he did my header in high-temp black PC, my pegs and kicker in gloss black, my throttle housing in chrome, and a few other misc parts for me for about $100 total including shipping and blasting.

I've done several parts in chrome. The old chrome was a 2 stage process. First chrome and bake then shoot the clear and bake. Clear is a must or the part will look dull with wear and tear. I buy all of my powder from columbia coatings and they recently developed chrome powder that doesnt require clear coat.
Last winter I did a complete banshee frame in chrome, with a second stage of candy blue. Very SWEET.

here is some of my chrome powdercoated parts, there are still about 40+ peices getting done still!

I love the over all finish, its not quite chrome, but i wasnt expecting that, its more like a nice polished aluminum that you dont have to polish any more!

al this is done by a member here DREADHED look him up, he does good work!

Those parts look great skyolincoln and I agree with you, it does not resemble chrome what so ever so why is the process called that ?

Was that just Dreadhed's desription of it or that's actually the PC description on can ? If it's on the can that stuff should be renamed.

Are those for the white one ?

It is the name of the powder. It's not my description. I agree though it's far from a true chrome plating color. I do like the way it comes out though.
