Is one better then another?? it seems Uni is popular but ive always gone K&N on things that need filters lol which one is the better of the two? Or does it just come down to personal preference.

Depends on the application. K&N's definitely flow better but they cost three times as much too. I wouldn't waste my money putting a K&N on a small bore or trail bike.
