Hands down the 250es is better. The only thing bad with the 250es over the 200es is the weight difference. I think the 250es is 80 to 100 lbs heavier.

250s are great. I will say that even though i own 2 200es. Supension is good. Yes i can go though the same or more mud than a 250. (weight)

    gearin

The 250es didn't need a low range. 1st gear is low enough.

Actually, i have a 200e big red 1983. and my grandpa has a 1985 big red 250es. And....it should be illegal to compare the two. mine and his are as close to mint condition as it can be. the 200es is good, but the 250 is sweet. i have rode both since i was 12, and i know personally. His walks through the mud and mine is 1/2 mile behind in low gear in buckshot trying to squeeze all the power i can out of it. and don't even get me started on the ride quality difference! plus the speed

    re:

The 250 is heavier and once it sinks in the mud its alot harder to get out. I'm not sure which one is faster but my 250 revs real high at top speed and I don't like to ride it full out. Its a pain in the ass to put the removable headlight cord back where it belongs on the 250. The 200 is a rougher ride and is actually quite bouncy with the 25 inch tires. I think the 200 would have been MUCH better with just a straight 5 speed like the 250. Although the 250 doesn't spin the tires fast enough in 1st and isn't powerful enough in 2nd. If I had the choice between the 2 I think i'd take the 200 because usually they are worth from 500 to 800$ less here. No wait an old trx 300 4x4 makes more sense then those too, don't hate me just cuz its not a three wheeler.
