It'll be at least a hundie if not more...Carbon fiber is EXPENSIVE. It is very light, yet very strong. Difficult to make as well. Good luck!

IM GONNA DO IT!!! ive just spent the last half hour reading on how to make a carbon fiber part and well it just happens to be the same process as fiber glass sheet molding. so first step is to make a mold of my tank shrouds then order some carbon fiber fabric and get some clear epoxy resin. well wish me luck may take a couple months to perfect as im gonna be learning as i go soo... yeah. but nate b have you found out if your buddy can do it and how much?

If your going to take the time to make these, then I would suggest you make your trial runs with fiberglass sheet instead of carbon. Also, you will want to gel and wax your molds and apply around 20mils of clear gel-coat to the molds before you lay the carbon if you want a nice shine. Make sure to get clear catalyst as well or your carbon will be tinted.

Also, I would suggest laying in 2 layers of regular glass for support on the mounting locations. Just my opinion.

I'm making some custom Z shrouds right now this same way.

thanks for the pointers. i was thinking of doing trial fiber glass shrouds to get the wolds perfect. but im not using any fiber glass in the final product im gonna use about 3 layers of carbon.
