    Shuts off trying to wheelstand...

When i pop up my 86 200x and put it on the grabbar, it shuts off.. yeah i know, shouldn't do that.. but its fun... but as soon as it hits, it sputters, and shuts off... only way to refire is to pushstart it about 30 feet or let it sit 10 minutes...

i'm guessing that the bowl drains all the gas out and it doesn't fill up fast enough... so if i plug it, temporarily ofcourse, would it still run when i pop it up?? or will it still die?

    thanks

on a side note... when i drive over a small treelimb or rutt, my forks CLICK... almost like they bounced back and smack off the stoppers or something.. very metallic sound though.... is this hard on them?

when its on the grab bar does gas leak out? If not your drain or drain lines are plugged and it cant get rid of the fuel would be my guess

If the grabber is digging in on the ground, your bike will slow down, and die. Just by having it in the air for a second, it shouldnt drain your bowl.

It should start right back up, maybe your carb is a little gummed up. Does your kickstart work? Is that why you have to pushstart?

check the vent lines on the carb (the hoses off to the sides of the carb) if they are clogged with dirt then the carb will not get proper air flow when inverted. Had this happen on a TRX250x once.

no the grabbar doesn't drag, no the lines are absolutely fine, i cleaned them out a week or 2 ago, along with a carb clean and they drain fine, i checked after it stalled and it was leaking on the ground at a steady pace.... tried kicking it.. kicked it till my leg wanted to fall off... so i pushed it down a hill (i jumped on it ofcourse) and after letting outta the clutch, it rolled probably 10 seconds before sputtering to a start... then after a minute of hard running, it would idle and run normal...

edit! when it started to go up, i could hear it start to sputter when it was at ~ a 45* angle to the ground... i even tried sitting it up and letting out of the clutch and just the momentum put it on the grabbar, and it still dies...

i also noticed if its idling and i lean it to either side, about halfway to being completely on its side, it starts to stall and leaks gas....

Re-build the Carb , Then Add Some SeaFoam to the Gas !

That should clear everything up !

SeaFoam can be bought at most auto part stores , AutoZone

First of all its kinda hard to suck gas upwards when the bike is up. Also when ya flip it up like that the gas fro the carb will go down into your filter thus clogging it for a short time, probaby why you have to let it sit for 10 mins, or you have to push start it for that many feet till it sucks it all out the filter. The dz and r do the same when i flip em up so i dont htink ya have a problem.

Edit just read the other posts. Check your float its probably getting stuck thus flooding the engine.

most carbs, while they will work at angels, were meant to run level, since your fuel level is always parallel to the ground, when you tip it back, some of the jets get uncovered and it starts to run leaner and leaner. Your trike seams to be way too sensitive though, i would guess (even though you said it was cleaned) that theres still some gunk in the fuel system some where, if you have a fuel filter, id check that, id check the float level, and clean everything again (and check your tank for crud and put fresh gas in if its old). Also, like said, check if your filter is soaked after you do this . If so, you could make sure your box is clean and try (for a very short time) without a filter. Or you could always set up EFI (something ive been looking into just for S&G)

well alright... i suppose it is time to do some work to it.. i've been wanting to jet it for no airbox lid... so i'm going to buy a moose carb rebuild kit and some jets, and clean the carb up.... and i cleaned my tank but didn't pull out the "in tank filter" that i THINK it has... i'll check the filter and see if it gets soaked...

hmmm... fuel injection.. thats not a bad idea!!

and traxxasx... i thought about the whole sucking gas UP.. but i thought the draw from the engine would be enough to keep sucking fuel/air... but it makes sense..

heres a street bike trick for you , loop your fuel lines a time or two ahead of the carb, when the bike gets inverted there will be extra gas forcing its way into the carb to help combat the starving effect. Stunters have been doing this for years
