    carb question

    ok my 82 185s recently threw a fit and killed its original motor, the motor runs but the clutches are shot, so i swaped in a 200 i got for 50$ it didnt come with a carb tho... now i know the 185 and the 200 use the same 22mm carb, but what i want to know is what should i jet it as a baseline... im assuming i need to change it because im using the carb of the 185 motor... but i got it to start and idle with it tonight so i know the motors good... seems to rev strong. only ran it for about 30 seconds or so because i dont want to burn up this motor before i even get to ride it. any help would be greatly appriciated. oh and what would you guys recommend for a replacement muffler. mine decided it wanted to fall apart when i removed the old motor... thanks again

    stock jetting for a 200s is 100 main jet. what kinda 200 engine you using ? i welded a 1988 harley sportster muffler onto a 200s head pipe. worked good and sounded better just needed to up the jetting.

    Cheap Cobra muffler is your best bet (get a Utility Series or Quiet Series one, the Megaphone is annoying and gay-sounding) for an inexpensive muffler.

    Jetting with the Cobra will need to be upped a few sizes (from 100 stock) to compensate.

    run a 105 and you should be ok. i forgot to mention my exhaust was just until i got my new one. i had it on less that a month worth of riding. ak is rite the cobra is your best bet unless you can find a cheap oem.

    im not sure what kind of bike the motor came out of , its been in this guys shop for about 4 years now... no bike, but i scored a spare gas tank that needs some work, half a carb missing the slide and the top,some fork oil for a project im working on... come to think about it im going to pull the spare carb apart and see what jets are in it... exhaust will be ordered next week once i get paid... thanks for the help guys

    if you need a carb let me know i have 4 and use only 1. 2 of them are 22mm and the other 2 are either 24 or 26mm. they all have their jugs. the one 22mm has allot of problems though so i guess i really only have 3.

    what exhaust are you getting ? we will need pictures you know that rite ?

    oh i know you guys are all pic whores here :P i have posted pics of my trike before, but dont worry, there will be lots of them in the future, riding season is almost upon us. As for the exhaust not sure, going to see whats in stock or who they deal with and order from there.

    that trike looks like mine when im done riding for the day. takes me a good hour or 2 to get it cleaned off.

    well i pulled the 1/2 carb apart to check it out and it has a 105 main in it WOOT!! so next question.. are the mains and needles a set or can i just put the 105 in my current 185 carb and start tuning from there...?
