    Angry Tri-Zinger--Still Having Problems-Need Help!

After cleaning the carb on my son's zinger over and over and over. I bought a used yt60 carb off ebay. I cleaned it up and used the bowl from my original carb since its in better shape.
Stuck in on and it fires up, which it will always do when I first crank it cold. While running I was tuning, and it quit. Wouldn't start so I pulled the plug and it was very black so I know I had it running too rich.

What has me confused is this carb just like the other doesn't have the spray nozzle and pilot jet as shown in the diagram for this carb. Is the diagram wrong or what? When I take out the main jet, there is a brass tube and thats it. It's like its just a sleeve, no threads and it is not made to come out. So why don't I have these parts in both carbs?

Also, when not running and with the gas ON gas will still flow out of the bowl tube. Float and needle seem to check out fine. Why I am I still having the same problems with 2 different carbs? This is driving me nuts!

I'm not trying to be a pain in the but, you can still get new carbs at the yamaha dealer. If the carb is that much of a pain, I would be getting a new one myself. 20 year old carbs can be a crapshoot. Just get you a pw50 carb from the dealer. It may seem pricey but if that is the only thing holding you up...I'm not 100% sure if the jets are the same between the pw50 and the yt60 but you should be able to check that at the dealer. Also have you checked the condition of your reeds? Bad reeds can affect how the carb operates also. You can still get reeds from boysen, just get a set for the pw50. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear, I'm just trying to offer you an alternative. Sounds like your a little frustrated. Hang in there man.

Also, you don't say wether or not your are still using the oil injection or if you are premixing. If you are using the oil injection is it correctly set? If you are premixing, did you make sure you plugged the oil injection pipe in the carb and are you over oiling the premix? Too much oil injection or premix and it will cause the bike to foul out your plug.
Also, my zinger had three setting on the start button, off-start-run. Are you sure you are trying to set your carb and tune while in the run mode? I'm not sure if all 3 years of zingers had this, but mine did. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Yes I'm using the oil injection. This zinger has run great since I bought it last November for xmas for my son. When I bought it, it would start leaking gas if it sat while not running after about 5 minutes.
After xmas it sat up until about 2 weeks ago. Yes the exhaust was plugged. I drilled the exhaust after some advice from here.

I haven't even checked the reeds, and never have messed with them before since all my other rides are 4 strokes.
I have the service manual, so I'll check the reeds out.

As far as I know the injection is working fine. When tuning I have the rear on a block and the switch in RUN.

I think the main problem right now is it is running too rich so I'll focus on that first and also checking the reeds.
