Tri-Z Powervalve question......
Okay, I am not wanting to pay the price for a Yamaha manual on the YZ (or don't really have the money right now), when everything else "looks" fairly straight forward from the schematics. My only question is, what is the "timing" when setting the powervavle? You know, if it's at top dead center, is the powervavle supposed to be forward facing on the hollowed out side? I've searched for a .pdf file of the YZ manual ('83), but not found anything. I haven't actually tried to put it together yet, but it crossed my mind that this was going to be VERY important when I did.
It's getting closer to completion! I just wish there was somone nearby to help out, or at least curse along with me and keep my beer nearby!
I know there's a couple of folks on here that did this conversion, so surely there's an "expert" out there to set me straight!

dont the end of the power valve have a D shape to it where the rod hooks to it..so it only hooks up one way. the rod is connected to a spring governer that opens it at certin rpm's..at least my yz did, pretty strait forward..check the rod where it goes on the power valve for that D shape right where the nut holds it on

Not sure, because I haven't pulled all the parts together yet. I'll look it over tomorrow and see if what you explained makes sense.
Dude, you have a wealth of knowledge! Thanks for helping out!

if you look at the exploded view in bikebandit under governor for the K or L model part 1 the lever is the one with the oval shape.. Now it could be put in 180 off so you will have to look at it when you install it through the port. I rember doing that with mine along time ago
