New to the board
Hi,
I have a 1983 Honda Big Red 200E. It's giving me some problems. Under accelartion the engine splutters and loses power, backfires, and eventually cuts out, then it sometims is hard to start back up.(rocking it seems to help re start it.) However it will idle just fine. I have replaced and the spark plug and went black. I have cleaned the carb, but the symptoms remain the same. I'm now thinking valves or valves guides. Does anybody have any suggestions?

If the plug is black then you are runing to rich. Adjust you pilot needle for that.

Where are you in Michigan? If you can get it to western Clare county I can look at it for you. I'd bet that its something simple
