Tuning my 350x carb

I got my 2006 400ex carb today, i installed it and the bike started up. However if I hit the gas hard it seems to sputter out, and if its opened slow its not so bad. Also it seems to break up if I hold it at a high rpm. Themotor has a ported head, full race powroll cam, supertrapp exhaust ande a 6mm powroll stroker kit. I couldnt even get the buke to idle with the old carb so it is getting better

400ex has an excellerator pump, thats why if you hit it hard it sputters. Too much fuel. 450Rs have it too and if you pump it too much you'll flood the engine before start-up

Yeah I know, I just realized I have the plug that I was riding on sunday still in I imagine its probably toast so ill try again tommorow with a new plug.

Ok beforre I mess wiyh jets Ill try setting the needle down a ways. Ill also through a plug in first.

ok anyone got a needle that I can use in a 400ex carb, the one in this one only has one adjustment slot. I need to set mine down but it cant be adjusted at all. Can anybody help me out?

Cant you just go down a jet???? Stop worrying about the needle, take it down a jet.

I have done a lot of reading on the Dial-a-jet system. Basically, it is a peice of equipment you attach to your carberator. You create a lean setting on your bike, and the dial-a-jet will correct it to the perfect jetting.

Do some research. I have one coming in the mail, so I dont have any personal experience with it. With all the reading I have done, and all the testimonials I have read, I have not heard a bad thing about them.

So get a jet that makes the bike run lean, and watch ebay for a dial-a-jet, or just anny up and buy one from Thunder products. It may be a bit pricey, but for all the mods you have done, its worth it to get the right jetting, for a healthy bike.

Well I ordered a dynojet jet kit from e-bay, should have it by wednesday. we'll see how it goes.

is all I can say no bogging no sputtering, dang this thig flies. If Im not carefull it pulls up in every gear. Thanks for the help fellas, I went with a 165 main jet (Dynojet), adjusted the mixture screw, and put the new needle on the third clip. Runs great now.
