    Air cooled R wont start

We just got this 84 r.It has been rebuilt top and bottom. It has 170-180 lbs compression. The stator has been tested by the honda manual and timing rechecked..So has the coil. The ground wire is sitting on clean bare metal. We have swapped reed cages, swapped out carbs ,they are clean.Swapped plugs.Check the pipe for clogs. This thing starts runs for maybe 5 seconds and dies.It sounds ok when it runs. The manual says you cant test the cdi with a regular meter so Thats the only thing left.I dont think i have another one to swap with it unless a 200x one would work.Anyone else have any ideas.

Sounds like its starving for fuel? Filling the carb and then once it runs burns what is in the bowl then dies. Check your float height/needle jet and make sure the carbs are clean.

Is the vent in the gas tank cap working? Maybe the vacume isn't letting it get gas if the vent is off or clogged.

    Petcock clean?

Yeah the carbs are clean and we tried 2 different carbs,The gas flows out the hose fine.It doesnt run near long enough to run a full bowl dry.Maybe 5 seconds at the most.

You know which one im talking about right? It is the one with the plug wire going from the plug to the little black box bolted to the frame.
