Oh boy,,,got another one, Polaris Cyclone

Well as some of you may know, about half a year ago I trader my 1987 Polaris cyclone for a snowmobile because it had no compression and wouldnt start, back when I was dumb. Well I have always regretted getting rid of it because it was such a fun, and fairly fast quad, well I went by a house today and saw a quad that looked like a Polaris Cyclone, I stopped and talked to the guy and it is, So after talking to him for a while, I bought it, I paid $400 for it, but the shaft in the transmission that hold the sprocket on it busted, so I will have to get a shaft, and I will need alot of help, ill get pictures up when I get it on friday or saturday, here are some pictures of the one I used to have.

2 stroke, it had oil injection, but he took out the tank so he could premix, and I would have done the same thing, thats what i did with my old one.

wow, the first thing that comes to mind when i look at the 2nd pic is 3 wheel conversion!! im sure its more work than it seems like, but by the looks of that frame it wouldnt take alot of mods... make about 3 sawzall cuts, weld on a trike frame neck, put on a trike frontend and your good to go! Deffinately not saying you need to make it a trike but i thought id throw out the idea for everyone. Sounds like you got yourself a pretty cool little quad, good luck with it!

hey, heres a quick paint pic to show kinda what i meant with the frame and stuff. too bad these quads seem kinda rare, almost too rare to cut up lol. maybe theres someone out there that has one with a trashed frontend. sorry for the hijacking, just wanted to throw this out there.

oh and yes i know my pic looks like crap, so plz dont flame me photoshopers lol

Wow, that would look pretty good as a 3 wheeled conversion, way top hard for me though, and yes, it is somewhat of a rare quad, but the older trailboss's used the same frame, id like to see someone give it a shot though. Here are some pictures, Ill probably start tearing it down tommorow and try and paint it the same as my old one, black frame and white plastic.

It has 250cc of raw Polaris 2 stroke power, it isnt bad for $400, im going to have to put $200 into the trans, about $75 in paint, maybe $250 in new piston and bore job, have to do cimpression check tommorow after I buy a tester, but hope fully by the end of august itll be done. I want to take my time and do everything rite.

There was a shop teacher here in town who got one of those, and NOBODY could figure out what it was! He basically just pulled the engine and components, and tossed the frame away.

Oh, I got a question, when I pull the pull rope it takes around 30 seconds to recoil back in, what do I have to replace to make it go like normal and shoot right back in?

Do you have to take small tugs on it to get it to pull back in, or does it just vibrate back into the housing? I'd say you should pull the housing off, take the rope out, retighten the spring a few revolutions more, and then replace the rope with some fresh cord (it's just good preventive maintenance).

Actually syko, it is a stock pipe, becuase it is a tuned-up version of the trail boss, it has a bigger and a little more powerful pipe than the trailboss's camse with, but good eye, and Redrider, ill give that a try, Thanks. Oh, also it recoils in on its own, you dont have too kepp pulling ti and letting in rewind, and pulling it and letting it rewind, it just recoils back in but slowly and steadily.

Well, I got another question, I went out and did a compression check, and it read right around 110 PSI, and that is without a carb on and without any kind of exhasut on, How is that? will i need to get a new piston and bore job? Thanks.
