Well, you might see if a yamaha dt125 engine fits. I just received one today and have to take it over to my 1980 125. I know the webco dt125 head is a direct bolt on. Not sure if DG made a head for the DT125. I just installed a nos bassini exhaust on my 125 and let me just say the trike sounds 100% better, just ask rassagmc who helped me install it. If the DT125 engine fits, then you would have a 4 spd manual shift 2 stroke engine. I believe I have an earlier non-reed version. Also I have heard that the 175 topend parts will bolt onto the 125 engine! Haven't been able to confirm this yet. I'm putting new rear wheel bearings in the trike and haven't had a chance to see if there is any seat of the pants difference with the bassini exhaust. Next will be to fit the webco head. Thinking about a next size up overbore with new piston and rings and maybe some mild porting. The trike already has the 83 and later carb with the bigger jets from the factory that was a bolt on. Not sure if I can get a higher compression piston, so I may have a couple thousandths shaved off the webco head to boost the compression, but I have to cc the stock head and the webco head to see if there are any dome volume differences which would affect the compression. Hope this info helps.
