iam new here now with pics

hi guys i just joined herd about this fourm from a sled fourm i go to

heres what i got 85 honda 350x in good shape bought it about a month ago

and it had a top end rattle so i tore it down and everything north of the cyclinder

was junk so i got lucky and and bought a head and rocker box off ebay brand new

bought a new cam and oil pump and timeing chain

got it running the other nite and pruns good it will idle nice and run for amybe 3 4 mins and dielet it sit for 10 15 mins and starts right up and dies agian after 3 4 mins

i took the carb apart and cleaned it and still the same thing

now what can i do to fix this thing as i have yet to get to ride it and i have
lot of $ in it

can i swap out this carb for some that will work and work good


update got the rebuild kit and put in in today and runs like a top
i can tell that iam going to have alot of fun on this thing

Your issue sounds like a carb clog. Sounds like your not getting gas quick enough, you let it sit, and the bowl fills it self back up. Pull the carb, and give it a real good run through.

Throw some pics of your bike up!

it sounds like the coil is getting warm and loosing spark...then after it cools it starts up for a little while again...etc etc etc...when it dies check for spark and report back

i pulled the carb last nite and got it sokein in a bucket of this carb cleaner nasty stuff and orderd a rebulid kit but its goin to take a week almost 2 to get it

but yesterday when it would run and die we did that checked for spark and it was good
but the bike is in good shape for being 22 yr old missin a couple of things
little stuff

thinga that are on it that i have bought and come on it
fly bays
super trap pipe
spider trac tires iam told thay suck i dont know yet
i have almost 1800 in this thing i ahvent road it yet man but iam sure some of you guys have alot more in yers hahah

Welcome to the board . You have come to the right place. Everybody here helps everyone. They are a great bunch of guys with one heck of a sense of humor. Place an ad in the classifieds. I'm sure somebody's got parts you might need. A nother thing to check is your fuel petcock. You could be starving your carb slowly. Mine was like that. If its plugged, it could take some time for fuel to pass through it to fill up you float bowl. CHeck your float level too. Post some pics EH!

Another thing to check for is to make sure the vent for the fuel tank cap is not clogged. If the gas cap vent is clogged, it will make the trike do the same thing, run out of gas when you have a full tank. Make sure it has the right gas cap on it. The right gas cap for the 350x will have a vent hose that comes out from the top of it. Try blowing back through the vent line. If you cannot blow back through the vent line, then it is clogged and it won't let the gas flow to the carb the right way and your bike will starve and run out of gas. It's one of the easiest free things to check for. If clogged, you might be able to use a pipe cleaner of a piece of wire to run through the vent hole to clean it out. The vent hole can get rusty and plug up or sometimes they plug up from sitting or getting dirty. Hope this helps.

the petcock is new too and i cleaned the cap befor we started

ill just have to wait for the rebulid kit to get here and try it out
if the dont work ill buy a new carb there only 2 hundo and iam workin on pics
i gota get them off my phone ill try to get them on tomorrow nite
