What is a good deal on a 250ES

So today I went and picked up a new 110 I my dad got on ebay for $30. The guy also had a big red there, that he had tried to sell on ebay, but it didn't meet his $700 reserve. He told me he'd sell it for $600, but I decided not to buy it today and came home without it. I'm trying to decide if it's worth going back to get. It's only about an hour drive, no big deal at all. It started up with no problem, and idled fine. I didn't ride it any today though. Everything looked to be in alright shape. I think it had a plastic tank on it though. It also had a crack in the left side of the rear fender. The front fork boots were about the only thing I noticed that I would replace. So what I'm wondering is, would $600 be a good deal for this? Both racks looked to be in good shape also. I didn't notice and rust on it, but I didn't look over it too much, as I had no intentions of buying it at the time. What do you guys think?

EDIT: the only reason I didn't really want to buy it today, was because I have been wanting a sport trike for awhile. I haven't been able to find anything though, and I'm starting to think I might not for the price I'm willing to pay. I was also thinking I could just buy this big red now, then if something comes up in the future, I would have something I could sell to pay for the new trike.

    big red

Thats a great price as long as the big red is not missing anything, you can get most parts on 3ww or ebay. You will be able to sell it no problem with a profit. Just my 2 cents.

i think $600 would be a good deal if its in good shape, does it smoke, is anything wrong with it, i would ride it before you buy it though, ask the guy what shape it is in mechanically, it may look nice but all the chrome in the world wont get you where you got to go. and you dad got a 110 for $30, nice find

i have been looking around for a 85 6 or 7 big red for 10 years. i always wanted one dont know why. Never had that kind of money to dish out at one time. I have found 15 with in 20 miles of my house just buy asking around. Ten out of the 15 owners will not part with them. 600 for a complete one is not a bad deal at all in my book. they hold there value real good, iI would try getting it for 500 or maybe 550. you never know.

If you go back, ride it. Listen for any odd noises. Make sure reverse works. Brakes, lights, any smoke, leaking oil, how it shifts, etc.
If all that checks out then $600 is a good deal.

Also, Make sure you look at the shifter close to the motor and see if it is cracked or has been repaired.
